The 2026 Klassik Open Air was a huge success. The Nuremberg State Philharmonic gave a magnificent concert.
The Nuremberg State Philharmonic is the largest orchestra in the metropolitan region and the second-largest opera and concert
orchestra in Bavaria.
Over the past few decades, the orchestra has been led by General Music Directors Hans Gierster, Christian Thielemann,
Eberhard Kloke, Philippe Auguin, Christof Prick, Marcus Bosch, and Joana Mallwitz. Since the 2023–2024 season, Roland Böer
has served as General Music Director of the Nuremberg State Theater and leads the orchestra.
With 150 opera and ballet performances, the orchestra also presents its own concert series, the Philharmonic Concerts,
at the Meistersingerhalle. In addition, there are numerous special projects and eight chamber concerts, which are initiated by the Friends
of the Orchestra and organized by the orchestra’s members.
Since 1999, the State Philharmonic, in cooperation with the City of Nuremberg’s Department of Culture, has
been organizing what has since become Europe’s largest open-air classical music festival. Through its concerts for children and young
people, the orchestra reaches and inspires a large number of new, young concertgoers.
What a celebration for all ages! At the family concert in Luitpoldhain, the Nuremberg State Philharmonic, under the theme
“Summer Festival in the Park,” uses music to show what a celebration sounds like. Claude Debussy captures the excited atmosphere
of the morning, Edward Elgar portrays the various guests, and Edvard Grieg sets the stage for dancing—until, by the end, everyone is
tapping their feet in high spirits. While General Music Director Roland Böer conducts the orchestra, music theater educator Philipp Roosz
playfully guides the audience through
