At the end of a long Sternstunden day, it became clear once again: people love donating to Sternstunden
from the heart, as €13.69 million was raised for children in need.
The highlight of the big Sternstunden day at Bayerischer Rundfunk was the festive Sternstunden Gala,
broadcast live from the Frankenhalle in Nuremberg.
Popular musical stars and artists performed and entertained the live audience while appealing for donations—
a format that works exceptionally well in a live broadcast. Many affected individuals shared how much the
donations from Sternstunden have helped them. People involved in these projects recounted their experiences
and the challenges faced by those in need.
Creative charity initiatives were launched, growing into impactful actions. Sternstunden has been helping
children in need for over 30 years, raising €400 million and sustainably supporting 4,014 aid projects
during this time.
The hosting duo Sandra Ließ and Volker Heißmann were, as always, warm and passionate. Celebrating
such a success is, of course, immensely enjoyable—especially knowing that so much good can be achieved
with these donations.
The show opened with a spectacular performance.
135 children from the Children’s and Youth Choir of the Altdorf Municipal Music School sang Wincent Weiss’s hit:
“Wer, wenn nicht wir?”
The singer with the unmistakable voice:

During “Millionen Lichter” by Austrian pop singer Christina Stürmer, the hall sparkled with additional lighting
as seemingly every phone flashlight in the audience was turned on—creating truly magical moments.
“Deine Freunde”
The beloved children’s and parents’ cult band brought the house down with a medley of their hits, including
“Schiss” and “Deine Mudder.” The entire Frankenhalle clapped along and sang with joy, filling the atmosphere
with excitement and happiness.

The Herbert Pixner Projekt delivered a virtuosic performance as well. With their alpine-inspired sound,

With her song “Wenn ich an Weihnachten denke,” the atmosphere became more reflective.

Christkind to the stage.
Professor Eicken from the German Heart Center spoke about his crucial work. There, a new, state-of-the-art heart
catheter system, co-financed by Sternstunden, is used for the optimal, effective, and gentle treatment of children
with congenital heart defects. Children’s hearts are so sensitive and small—it’s hard to imagine how delicately
they must be handled, and naturally, the appropriate equipment is essential.
For the past 30 years, the Bunte Kreis in Augsburg has been supporting families with children facing
life-shortening illnesses. This organization provides essential relief for caregivers in their daily lives.

“Edeltraud Dahlhoff, longtime head of such an institution, shared with great emotion how important it is to
continue supporting young people as they transition into adulthood.
During Nikolai Sommer’s performance, who became quadriplegic after an accident, he never gave up and
continued pursuing sports. A sporting act followed. This young man, who benefited from Sternstunden as a
teenager, has since excelled in table tennis and won championships. He easily defeated the moderation duo
in a small charity match, with former ski racer Felix Neureuther acting as the referee, who is also a close
friend of Nikolai.”

“Once again, it has proven that commitment, solidarity, and humanity are the things that connect people
and bring hope for a future. The donation result at the end of the broadcast spoke volumes and surpassed
everything that had come before. With 13.69 million euros, the outcome from the anniversary year 2023 was
exceeded once again. A sum that clearly shows the significance of Sternstunden and how important it is
for people to help children in need.”
